As the title indicates, this work stands in the trajectory of Tilman’s interest in architectural space and its correlation with light.
The title ‘Flat’ relates to the simple idea of a ‘flat’ painted object. However, in a humorous sense it also makes a relation to a flat, an apartment and henceforth to an architectural description of a certain spatial quality.
The series ‘Flat’, started in 2010, consist of hand-painted aluminum planes and profiles with sandwiched foam-mats.
