This mixed media painting is a sophisticated exploration of Geometric Abstraction and Op Art, where color is treated as a living, pulsating force.
By blending digital precision with traditional canvas, the artist creates rhythmic tensions through a language of curves, lines, and light. Ultimately, these pieces transcend flat surfaces to become immersive "chromatic puzzles" that challenge the boundary between the visible and the invisible.
Jérôme Thẩm Võ Mỹ (b. 1967, Paris, France) is a contemporary abstract artist whose vibrant, color-focused works blur the boundaries between the visible and invisible. Based in Paris, his art creates a sensitive chromatic universe where color expresses genuine freedom and movement.

Education
Thẩm Võ Mỹ studied painting and applied arts at the Estienne School of Paris, where he also focused on typography, graphic design, and visual communication. This formal training, combined with his extensive career as a creative director and graphic designer, has significantly influenced his artistic approach, particularly his attention to detail, precision, and conceptual development.
Inspiration
Thẩm Võ Mỹ cites optimism as his essential driving force, both as a prerequisite for making art and as a quality reinforced by the creative process. His work is influenced by Minimalist artists like Frank Stella and the principles of Kinetic art. Rather than expressing specific ideas or emotions, he focuses on the relationship between form and color, allowing viewers to interpret his work according to their own perspectives.
One of his recent series, "Laque, Claque, Laque," draws inspiration from ancient Asian lacquer techniques, exploring the layering process as a metaphor for the complexity of human experience and the relationship between past and future.
For Thẩm Võ Mỹ, abstraction is a process that varies with each series he develops. He approaches his work without narrative intent, instead developing concepts that encourage viewers to reflect on themselves. His artistic philosophy embraces the idea that the viewer's interpretation belongs to them, not to the artist. This perspective aligns with his appreciation for artists like Gerhard Richter, whose works offer a visual experience without narrative charge. His earliest significant artistic memory, visiting the Ramses II exhibition at the Grand Palais in Paris at age six, instilled in him an appreciation for art's ability to transcend time and leave a lasting impression.

Technique
Working across multiple mediums with a strong digital component, Thẩm Võ Mỹ creates abstract compositions characterized by geometric shapes such as circles and lines, often incorporating typefaces and numbers. His process involves repetition, enlargement, and sometimes contradiction of forms through digital technology. Each canvas is covered with a streaked matt gel that creates additional bonds between colors.
His work is methodical yet experimental—he typically works on three paintings simultaneously, establishing color relationships that create what he describes as a "visual click" before applying these combinations across the series. The artist's technique has evolved from relatively simple shapes and flat colors to more complex gradations and color mixtures, and continues to develop in an ongoing process of refinement.
Exhibitions
Thẩm Võ Mỹ has exhibited in various art spaces throughout Paris. A significant milestone in his exhibition history was his solo show "Chromalibre" at Galerie Electric Paris in 2022, which created a playful and dynamic visual experience for viewers.
His exhibition approach emphasizes presenting works as both autonomous pieces and as parts of a cohesive whole—what he describes as a "hyper-saturated chromatic puzzle."
Representation
