教育

從系列到系列的結果,有時更傾向於線性,有時則傾向於標記的聚集,還有時則傾向於所描繪的形狀。線條和書法的質量在整個範圍內變化,從無限細的鉛筆線(形狀的邊緣)到非常寬的筆觸,寬度足以成為形狀本身。...

在他2010-2014年的畫作中, 線條 已成為形狀的邊緣,為 顏色提供了明確的區域以充分表達。戈登還將單一形狀、相鄰形狀和形狀的聚集視為小畫作,存在於整體畫作之中。

在他的創作中,藝術家不使用土色或黑色,而僅使用光譜顏色,創造出清晰、具體且強烈的藝術作品。當被問及他對顏色的看法時,戈登說:"畫家需要純粹的顏色,就像作曲家需要純粹精確的音調。"

靈感

當被問及他的靈感時,藝術家說:"我受到我所有的經歷和觀察、人民、城市、 風景 和藝術的啟發,創作出與過去偉大大師畫作一樣充實、豐富、完整且有意義的抽象畫。我希望我的藝術能引發深刻的感受和思考,以及快樂和喜悅。基本上,它提出並回答了兩個問題:活著的感覺是什麼,以及藝術是什麼。"...

達納·戈登在年輕時沉浸於藝術環境中,多次造訪芝加哥藝術學院。然而,讓他理解創造力的早期頓悟來自於他青少年時期造訪的爵士樂俱樂部:聽到和看到邁爾斯·戴維斯和約翰·科爾特倫的即興演奏,正如戈登所說,"就像是在藝術天才的創造性思維中實時體驗,當他們在創作時。"

在1960年代末居住於曼哈頓市中心的戈登,被一個集中且非常活躍的藝術世界所包圍。在亨特學院學習繪畫和雕塑期間,他的老師包括托尼·史密斯、喬治·蘇格曼、阿德·賴哈特拉爾夫·漢弗瑞等人。

"每當開始創作一幅畫時,人們都會面對存在主義的問題,這最終使得這幅畫值得一看,也值得去做。一般來說,我試著讓我所經歷的一切影響我的繪畫。然後讓這個過程自行整理。這個過程就像是與畫作的對話(常常是一場爭論),它既是心理上的也是身體上的。"

繪畫是一種全面且開放的視覺語言,表達智力、心理和情感。(它的本質確實是視覺的,完全沒有敘事、文學、學術、理論或政治的成分。)

歷史上,抽象源於所有形式的藝術,但從根本上說,它也構成了這些藝術的基礎。抽象形式包含了我們對自然的看法,並且在自然的所有方面都可以找到。
