Leon Phillips(生於加拿大薩斯喀徹溫省 Spalding)是一位現代抽象畫家,現居溫哥華,他的作品探討色彩的物質性以及藝術家、工具與媒介之間的物理互動。他的繪畫研究手勢、材料特性與感知經驗之間的關係,創造出超越純粹視覺體驗、喚起觀者內心感受的作品。

技法

Phillips 獨特的方法聚焦於色彩與顏料的物質性,將顏料視為積極的合作者,而非惰性材料。他採用水平作畫以防止滴落並保持顏料黏稠度,使用特別挑選的 Da Vinci 畫筆,視其為感官系統的延伸。他的創作過程同時運用油畫和水彩,兩種媒介相互影響。對於油畫,他使用精心調配的稀釋劑,防止表面黏膩並賦予緞面啞光效果。水彩創作時,他使用大量水分,創造扭曲的地形表面,使顏料脫離結合劑自由流動並表達自我。
