Debra Ramsay 是一位美國抽象藝術家,創作壓克力畫作、素描及裝置藝術,探索色彩、線條與表面之間的概念互動。她現居並工作於紐約市。

教育背景

Ramsay 於1984年畢業於布魯克林的普瑞特學院,並於1986年取得布魯克林學院的學士學位。她也曾就讀於俄勒岡州科瓦利斯的俄勒岡州立大學,於1999年畢業。她曾獲得紐約的Albers基金會及Golden Family基金會,以及義大利奧特蘭托的BAU研究所的駐地藝術家獎助。

技法

Ramsay 的創作技法始於一個想法。接著她選擇適合的媒介與方法來實現她的概念。她的大部分作品是以壓克力顏料繪製於聚酯薄膜、紙張或博物館用板上。

Ramsay 的創作過程採用系統化、數學化的方法,深受色彩影響。她與自然互動,記錄自然環境中元素如風景、水果、葉子和樹木的色彩變化。她經常在一年中的不同時期回到同一地點,記錄色彩隨時間的變化。
回到工作室後,她將記錄的色彩輸入電腦程式,進行分析,並利用分析結果調配顏料。
最終作品呈現特定空間或物件在時間中的抽象,結合數學原理,透過幾何與色彩進行探索。

靈感來源

Ramsay 的作品受自然、季節、變化的風景及時間流逝啟發。她受到系統、數學與幾何的啟發,並致力於將這些思維領域應用於色彩、空間與時間的抽象詮釋。她的作品深受德裔美國抽象藝術家Josef Albers的一句話影響:「在無法測量的色彩光譜中存在深刻的和諧。」
