All artworks on IdeelArt are original, signed, delivered directly from the artist's studio, and come with a certificate of authenticity."Interspace" is a monumental spatial intervention created by Munich-born abstract artist Tilman in collaboration with Cora von Zezschwitz. Specially conceived for the M-17 Art Center in Kiev, Ukraine, in 2019, this project is a key iteration of the ongoing Infinite Village series. Rather than a traditional installation, the work acts as a targeted intervention that redefines the architectural experience of the center.
Artistic Vision & Technique
The project investigates the concept of "in-between space"—a physical and mental zone of passage. Using a vibrant yellow palette, the structure establishes a non-objective presence that addresses fundamental ways of seeing and perception.
The artists utilized what they term "poor materials"—including raw wood, fabrics, and foils. In this narrative approach, the materials are not merely formal elements but "meaningful annotations" that contrast with the gallery's existing architecture. By reducing the structure to these essential, humble materials, Tilman and von Zezschwitz invite viewers to investigate beyond the surface and engage with the spatiality of the environment.
Context & Significance
Tilman, who divides his practice between New York City and Italy, is deeply inspired by the traditions of Concrete Art and Minimalism. Interspace exemplifies his commitment to creating objects that interpret light and space while engaging the natural curiosity of the viewer. By transforming a utilitarian passage into a site of contemplative discovery, the project demonstrates how site-specific abstract art can activate the metaphysical potential of any environment.

他是義大利 Dolceacqua 的 Dolceacqua Arte Contemporanea (d.a.c.)
