Éducation

Brent Hallard a obtenu son Bachelor of Fine Arts en 1990 et a ensuite obtenu son Master of Arts de l'Université de New South Wales en 1992.

Technique

En utilisant des médiums tels que des marqueurs, des aquarelles et des acryliques, Hallard construit des images monochromatiques et semi-monochromatiques de formes géométriques reconnaissables telles que des carrés et des rectangles sur papier et aluminium.

L’œuvre se compose souvent de formes simples et de groupes de formes, et parfois elle échappe aux limites de la ligne et de la forme.

"Les peintures... sont merveilleusement simples. Les bords sont si distincts et les couleurs si vives qu'elles s'enfoncent presque dans le territoire optique. Certaines de ses œuvres sont parfaitement symétriques, mais les limites se déplacent à mesure que nous détournons nos yeux de segment par segment, bande par bande, car la couleur joue de légers tours à nos yeux. Il semble s'engager dans une abstraction symétrique et dure, puis dans le cas suivant, réaliser une œuvre... qui semble dire qu'il sait que celles-ci sont attendues. être des peintures dures, mais vous voyez ?
