Kim Uchiyama 是一位美国抽象艺术家,她的作品通过色彩创造光与形,激活图像空间的形而上潜能。她现居并工作于纽约。

教育背景与奖项

Uchiyama 曾在爱荷华州得梅因的德雷克大学学习艺术与文学,并在意大利佛罗伦萨学习文艺复兴前艺术史。她还曾在耶鲁大学夏季艺术与音乐学校、皇后学院以及纽约绘画、雕塑与素描工作室学习艺术。她获得过纽约艺术基金会、麦克道威尔艺术家驻地、弗吉尼亚创意艺术中心、法国奥维拉尔以及意大利奥特兰托BAU研究所的奖学金。她是美国抽象艺术家协会成员。

技法

Uchiyama 使用 Arches 纸上的水彩以及画布和亚麻布上的油画。她同时创作多幅作品。每件作品开始时,她会等待在空白画面上“看到”初始色彩,然后将其涂抹于底层。每一层颜色都基于最初的冲动,构建出由色彩形状组成的网格。每一层都具有独特的物理和材质特性:有些不透明,有些半透明;有些富有画意,有些平坦。艺术家的每一个选择都旨在创造一个动态、多面的构图,邀请观者的目光随她移动,体验绘画的创作过程。

灵感

Uchiyama 的灵感之一来自她的老师、画家 Nicolas Carone,后者曾师从现代主义大师 Hans Hofmann。Uchiyama 继承了 Carone 和 Hofmann 对色彩、图像空间及绘画结构的重视。她在作品中调动这些元素,创造出独特的张力、和谐与节奏。Uchiyama 经常受到旅行中遇到的特定地点或风景的光线与氛围启发。她用色彩传达那个地方的情感本质或感觉——光与影、重量感。
