教育與獎項

Uchiyama 曾在愛荷華州得梅因的德雷克大學學習藝術與文學,並在義大利佛羅倫斯學習前文藝復興時期的藝術史。她曾在耶魯大學夏季藝術與音樂學校、皇后學院以及紐約繪畫、雕塑與素描工作室學校學習藝術。她獲得過紐約藝術基金會、麥克道威爾藝術殖民地、維吉尼亞創意藝術中心、法國奧維拉爾及義大利奧特蘭托BAU研究所的獎學金。她是美國抽象藝術家協會成員。

技法

Uchiyama 的水彩畫傳達出充滿神秘光帶的氛圍。她運用飽和色彩建立一個整體合唱,每條光帶描繪出其獨特的聲音。精確的排列如同歌曲的音符,將能量從一刻傳遞到下一刻。...

Uchiyama 使用 Arches 紙上的水彩以及畫布和亞麻布上的油畫。她同時發展多幅圖像。每件作品開始時,她會等待在空白表面「看到」初始色彩,然後才將其塗於底層。每一層色彩都建立在最初的衝動上,形成由色彩形狀組成的網格。每層具有獨特的物理與材質特性:有些不透明,有些半透明;有些富有繪畫感,有些則平滑。藝術家所做的每個選擇都旨在創造一個動態、多面向的構圖,邀請觀者的目光隨她移動,體驗畫作的創作過程。

靈感

Uchiyama 的靈感之一來自她的老師、畫家 Nicolas Carone,Carone 本人曾師從現代主義大師 Hans Hofmann。Uchiyama 與 Carone 和 Hofmann 一樣,重視色彩、繪畫空間與繪畫結構。她在作品中動員這些元素,創造獨特的張力、和諧與節奏。Uchiyama 經常受到旅行中遇見的特定地點或風景的光線與氛圍啟發。她用色彩傳達該地的情感本質或感覺——光與影、重量感。
