Brincando com Geométrico

A arte abstrata geométrica emprega formas geométricas de uma maneira não figurativa. A tradição de usar a geometria na arte visual remonta a séculos, no entanto, em muitos casos, as formas geométricas foram usadas de uma maneira distintamente decorativa ou em um sentido simbólico. A posição modernista de usar formas e figuras geométricas de uma maneira autorreferencial ou puramente abstrata remonta à era do Cubismo Sintético, que se originou por volta de 1912. Nesta fase do Cubismo, os artistas extraíram a tendência cubista de achatar o mundo em planos geométricos, empregando as formas achatadas para construir composições que deveriam ser lidas como exames formais de elementos estéticos como linha, cor e forma.
